Romanian President Klaus Iohannis signed a law ratifying an agreement with Moldova on a grant of 100 million euros.
This is an agreement between the governments of Moldova and Romania on the implementation of a program of technical and financial assistance based on gratuitous financial assistance in the amount of 100 million euros. This document was signed in Chisinau on 11 February. Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ion Ciuca said during the meeting that this agreement, which provides for the allocation of 100 million euros in gratuitous financial assistance to Moldova, is one of the main instruments through which Romania specifically supports Moldova's efforts for sustainable development and progress along the path of reforms and its rapprochement with the EU. As InfoMarket agency reported earlier, the target areas of grant assistance allocated by Romania will be: energy, transport, environment, infrastructure, small business, media independence, public administration reform, healthcare, culture, tourism. Basically, the funds will be directed to the regions - to the villages. The funds will be provided for a period of 7 years. At the same time, in order to ensure the full development of funds provided by the Romanian government to Moldova, its implementation can be extended for up to 3 years. The agreement also provides for a financial contribution provided by Moldova, which cannot be less than 5% of the eligible costs for each project. In addition, the Government of Moldova will have to ensure exemption from taxes, fees and any other payments for equipment and materials provided by the Romanian partners in the project, public or private, financed by the contribution. // 05.05.2022 — InfoMarket
