The German government is investing 9 million euros in the construction of a new regional wastewater treatment plant in Cahul.
The project will be implemented under the regulations of the German bank KfW (Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau). As noted in the message of the KfW Chisinau office, following the results of an international tender, the Mayor of Cahul and the Turkish consortium Alkatas-Metag signed an agreement on the design and construction of a new wastewater treatment plant for Cahul and nearby villages (Cotihana, Rosu, Crihana Veche). The signing of the contract took place in the Mayor's office of Cahul. The cost of the design and construction of the treatment plant is 9 million euros, the completion time is 24 months. The construction of a wastewater treatment plant in Cahul is one of the key objectives of the Water Supply and Sewerage Project in the Cahul region with a total budget of 36.5 million euros, provided as a grant by the German government (23.5 million euros) and the European Union (13 million euros) through German bank KfW. In addition, the project provides for the modernization of the water supply/canal networks in Cahul and the villages of Cotihana and Crihana-Veche, as well as the establishment of a sustainable water supply/sewage service in the Cahul district. The project is being implemented according to the regulations of the German bank KfW. It should be noted that on April 30 Moldova and Germany will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations. Since Moldova gained independence, Germany has provided assistance in the amount of more than 150 million euros in the field of technical and financial cooperation with our country. // 29.04.2022 — InfoMarket
