The NBM is starting to develop regulations on simultaneous activities in the field of life insurance and general insurance.
The National Bank invites all interested parties to participate in the development of the draft document; their applications can be sent to the NBM until May 17. It is worth noting that, according to the Law on Insurance and Reinsurance Activities, in Moldova it is possible to conduct simultaneously activities in the categories of “life insurance” and “general insurance” only if each of these types of activities is separated and separately managed. The insurance company is obliged to maintain accounting in such a way that the sources of results for each of these two types of activities can be identified from the records. In this case, the total costs for these two types of activities must be taken into account separately. Insurers conducting simultaneous activities in the categories “life insurance” and “general insurance” are required to maintain a special register of assets for each of these two types of activities; submit separate reports to the supervisory authority, as well as maintain financial reporting and auditing separately for these two categories of insurance activities. // 23.04.2024 — InfoMarket.
