The National Health Insurance Company has concluded contracts with medical service providers for 2024 worth about 14 billion lei.

Its director general Ion Dodon announced this at a press conference, noting that the National Medical Insurance Company has concluded 430 contracts worth about 14 billion lei with public and private service providers, who in 2024 will provide medical services to the population within the framework of the compulsory health insurance system. This amount will be transferred by the National Health Insurance Company in stages, depending on the services offered by providers on a monthly basis, and amounts to about 92% of the total cost of compulsory health insurance for the current year. More than half of the funds (7.7 billion lei) will be used to provide hospital medical care. This fact made it possible to conclude contracts with 77 public and private hospitals, which will provide treatment for about half a million cases in various specializations - surgery, acute and chronic cases, interventions under special programs, dialysis services, radiation therapy services for cancer patients, etc. This year, the number of operations that will be performed within the framework of special programs will increase significantly: heart surgery, prosthetics of the musculoskeletal system, cataract surgery. For example, more than 141 million lei are planned for 10,500 cataract operations, which is over then 1,600 operations more than last year. More than 400 million lei are allocated for almost 6 thousand operations on prosthetics of the musculoskeletal system, which is 700 cases more than in 2023. The number of cases of in vitro fertilization has almost tripled: from 60 services purchased in 2023 to 170 services for an amount of more than 5 million lei planned for this year. The following hospitals will receive the largest budgets from compulsory health insurance funds in 2024: Institute of Emergency Medicine (729.6 million lei), Republican Clinical Hospital named after Timofei Mosneaga (701.6 million lei), Institute of Mother and Child (586.8 million lei), Oncological Institute (549.4 million lei), Municipal Clinical Hospital of the Holy Trinity (456.4 million lei), Balti Clinical Hospital (415 .2 million lei). To ensure the population's access to family doctor services, more than 280 primary care providers have been involved. The financial resources provided for by the Law on Compulsory Health Insurance Funds for 2024 for this type of assistance exceed 3 billion lei and amount to almost 1/4 of the main fund intended to pay for medical and pharmaceutical services. Almost 1.4 billion lei (9.3% of the main fund) have been allocated for medical care that will be provided by specialist doctors at the outpatient level. To use this amount, the National Health Insurance Company has contracts with more than 120 providers, nearly half of which offer dental care. In addition to the services of medical specialists, more than 20 thousand radiation therapy services were purchased at the outpatient level for an amount of more than 11 million lei, provided by the Institute of Oncology; almost 100 thousand dialysis sessions worth 198 million lei; early intervention services worth more than 19 million lei for children under 5 years of age with special needs. The amount provided for emergency medical care this year exceeds 1 billion 312 million lei (8.6% of the main fund). At the same time, more than 300 thousand highly effective medical services worth almost 366 million lei will be provided to the insured this year. These studies will be offered by 67 public and private service providers. Significant growth in the number of high-throughput services contracted for 2024 can be seen in the areas of colonoscopy, echocardiography, computed tomography, nuclear magnetic resonance, and cancer services. The funds allocated for public and home health care this year exceed 130 million lei. To provide them, the National Health Insurance Company entered into a contract with 128 suppliers. 95 million lei have been allocated for palliative care: about 84 thousand inpatient bed days and about 13 thousand home visits from mobile teams are provided. To provide these services, the National Health Insurance Company has signed contracts with 47 providers this year. Herewith, more than 1.8 billion lei are planned for compensation for medicines and medical devices, which is 48 million more than last year. To produce related products, the company has entered into contracts with more than 200 pharmaceutical service providers with more than 1,300 subsidiaries.
