Moldova and Greece have signed an intergovernmental agreement on the provision of technical assistance and support for institutional reforms and capacity building
The document was signed in Athens by Moldova’s Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization, Eugen Osmochescu, and Greece’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Haris Theoharis. As Eugen Osmochescu noted, this agreement will enable the implementation of technical assistance projects aimed at reforms in Moldova in the context of EU integration, while the Greek side will provide our country with support in utilizing and absorbing external aid, as well as in advancing along the European path. During discussions with Haris Theoharis and Greek partners, Eugen Osmochescu emphasized the importance of revitalizing Moldovan-Greek trade relations. He noted that in 2025, Greece ranked 23rd among Moldova’s trading partners. Moldovan exports to Greece in 2025 amounted to $81.5 million (+22.7%), while Greek imports to Moldova totaled $77 million (+14.8%), resulting in a positive trade balance for our country of $4.4 million. At the same time, the parties highly appreciated the interest shown by Greek companies in the economic mission held in Chisinau from March 1 to 3, identifying a number of sectors of mutual interest, such as infrastructure, construction, industry, energy, and logistics. Moldova’s Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization invited Greek companies to also participate in business events scheduled for the second half of this year in Chisinau, with the aim of capitalizing on the results of negotiations initiated through investment contracts. “This visit allows us to advance the country’s European agenda, prepare proposals for the next meeting of the Moldovan-Greek Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for 2027, and develop an action plan for the implementation of the agreement signed in Athens,” noted Eugen Osmochescu. // 06.04.2026 — InfoMarket
