Moldova has launched the 112MD app, designed to improve the efficiency of emergency services

The new digital solution allows users to call 112 with automatic transmission of location information and relevant data from the user's profile. Users are offered a silent emergency chat via the "Can't talk" feature, along with icons that allow them to select the most appropriate emergency situation so that the operator can quickly process their request for assistance. This feature is especially important for people with hearing or speech impairments, as well as for those in high-risk situations where verbal communication could pose a threat to their life. Users can also initiate a dialogue with 112 operators via text or video. The app was developed with financial support from the Czech Republic and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and is free to download to your mobile phone. Moldovan citizens can also use the app without additional downloads when traveling to several other European countries—Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, and Finland—and the network will soon expand to Romania and Italy. // 24.03.2026 — InfoMarket.
