Arena Chisinau will be in surplus in 2025 - operating profit of about 5 million lei is forecasted

During a meeting of the Economic Press Club on Thursday, the administrator of the state-owned company Arena Nationala, Sergiu Stanciu, said that according to forecasts, the company's revenues will amount to 38 million lei and expenses to 34 million lei, which will ensure a positive balance of 5 million lei. The construction of the Arena Chisinau project started in 2018 with a total budget of 40 million euros; subsequently, the investment amount increased to 45 million euros. The complex was built by a Turkish contractor to whom the government pays approximately 3.1 million euros annually (until 2030). The corresponding payments are included in the state budget. The Arena Chisinau complex opened on June 1, 2023 and during 7 months of operation its operating losses amounted to 9 million lei. In 2024, the operating losses decreased to 3 million lei (32 million lei - revenues, 35 million lei - expenses). At the end of 2025, an operating profit of 5 million lei is expected. According to Sergiu Stanciu, by the end of 2026, the enterprise will reach full self-sufficiency and will cover the losses of 2023-2024. At present, the main expenses of the enterprise are incurred on energy resources: in the winter period, electricity costs 1 million lei per month, natural gas - 0.6 million lei. Additional costs are related to the staff and the maintenance of the building. While speaking about income, the administrator of Arena Chisinau said that the most profitable object of the complex is the Aquacenter (Olympic and training pools, gym, Water Park, etc.). The second most profitable area is event rental space. At the same time, for example, the tennis club (8 training and 1 center court), is still unprofitable. He emphasized that the complex is a state enterprise, managed by the Public Property Agency, but it is self-financed. Current operating losses are covered solely by working with suppliers on deferred payment terms. // 21.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
