
The Moldovan Finance Ministry discussed progress on the chapters of negotiations with the EU and improvement of the legislative framework for the country's long-term development
The Ministry said that, in particular, in the context of Moldova's accession negotiations with the European Union, the Finance Ministry, jointly with the Project Preparation Facility (PPF), financed by the European Union, presented the progress made in 2024 in the areas under its coordination. The event, moderated by Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance Ana Luca, brought together representatives of state institutions participating in thematic working groups, which highlighted important reforms implemented to harmonize national legislation with EU law, as well as future plans, in particular for 2025. Finance Minister Victoria Belous expressed her gratitude to all those involved in this complex process, thanking partners for their support and colleagues for their participation. “We are coordinating an extensive process aimed at Moldova's stability and development,” she stressed. For her part, Ana Luca highlighted the Finance Ministry's achievements and praised the participation and support of all the participants in this process. “We want Moldova to be harmonized with the EU principles. In 2024, we received assistance from a number of projects of European partners, including in public procurement and public finance management, which contributed to the increase of transparency and efficiency in the management of public resources,” she said. According to the press service of the Ministry, through the event, the Finance Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable and effective reforms aimed at ensuring more transparent and responsible management of public finances. By approaching the European standards, the Finance Ministry aims at modernizing the financial processes, improving the legal framework and creating a solid economic system, capable of supporting Moldova's long-term development. In the process of Moldova's accession to the EU, the Finance Ministry is coordinating 9 sectoral working groups: component “Public Finance Management”, Chapter 17 “Economic and Monetary Policy”, Chapter 33 “Financial and Budgetary Support”, Chapter 4 “Free Movement of Capital”, Chapter 9 “Financial Services”, Chapter 16 “Taxation”, Chapter 29 “Customs Union”, Chapter 32 “Financial Control” and Chapter 5 “Public Procurement”. // 18.02.2025 - InfoMarket.
