The Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers will allocate about 115 million lei to eliminate the consequences of heavy rains that took place from June to September 2024

The Commission for Emergency Situations adopted this decision, ordering to allocate this money from the government's Intervention Fund. According to the decision, in particular, 114 million 758 thousand lei will be allocated to 54 settlements affected by heavy rains with strong wind and hail in summer and autumn of this year. These are the settlements from Rezina, Hincesti, Floresti, Telenesti, Ialoveni, Straseni, Cantemir and Leova districts. The funds will be used to repair about 160 kilometers of damaged public roads, 20 damaged bridges and gutters, as well as to restore the roofs of some educational institutions. Support will be provided to 21 households in the commune of Cania and the village of Stoianovca, Cantemir district, which were affected by heavy rains on September 14. For this purpose, 282 thousand lei will be allocated to the council of Cania commune and 49.93 thousand lei to the village council of Stoianovca. Earlier, the local authorities allocated over 3.5 million lei from the local reserve funds for the partial liquidation of the consequences of the heavy rains. In this context, Prime Minister Dorin Recean warned the local state administrations to intervene in time in case of risks in order to avoid big damages caused by natural disasters. // 27.12.2024 - InfoMarket.
