Moldova and Romania will introduce joint customs control at the Giurgiulesti-Galati border crossing point

This is stipulated by a draft intergovernmental agreement with Romania on the coordination of control at the Giurgiulesti-Galati state border crossing point, in the direction of entering the Romanian territory, the Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers approved on Wednesday. The Moldovan Cabinet of Ministers approved the decision to start negotiations and approved its subsequent signing. According to the Moldovan Interior Ministry, the conclusion of this agreement will facilitate the coordination of border traffic control at the Giurgiulesti-Galati checkpoint. Thus, control procedures will be simplified and waiting times will be reduced. This will improve cross-border flows of people and goods, increase border security and strengthen Moldovan-Romanian cooperation. At the same time, reducing waiting times and coordinating control procedures will facilitate trade exchange between Moldova and Romania, which will increase exports and imports, thus stimulating the national economy. A similar Agreement on coordinated control at the Leuseni-Albita state border crossing point is currently in force. // 06.11.2024 – InfoMarket
