The commune of Stauceni, which is part of the Chisinau municipality, has been granted the status of a town.

This is stipulated by the relevant amendments to the Law on the administrative-territorial organization of Moldova, passed by the Parliament in the second reading. The author of the draft law, the head of the commission for public administration and regional development, Larisa Voloh, said that the granting of the town status to Stauceni is justified by the economic and demographic potential of this locality, the level of economic development, the level of development of the local infrastructure, and it is necessary to ensure the further well-being of its residents. It should be noted that Stauceni commune includes the settlements of Stauceni and Goianul Nou. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, as of January 1, 2023, the population of Stauceni commune was 9,295 inhabitants. // 16.05.2024 - InfoMarket.
