
The Cyber Security Coordinating Council will start operating in Moldova from January 1, 2025.
At a May 8 meeting, the government approved a regulation on the establishment, organization and functioning of the Council, as well as its functional composition. The Council will play a crucial role in the development and implementation of the National Cyber Security Strategy, as well as other policy and planning documents in this area. It will also coordinate the development and implementation of the National Cyber Incident and Cybersecurity Crisis Response Plan. The Council's responsibilities will also include strengthening cooperation among agencies to achieve cybersecurity goals; overseeing the fulfillment of government agencies' obligations to develop cybersecurity policies and regulations; ensuring consistency among cybersecurity policies and plans; monitoring trends and developments in this area; and developing recommendations to address new cyber threats. Through effective and strategic coordination of cross-institutional efforts, the Council is expected to help protect the interests of citizens, government agencies, and the private environment in the face of ever-evolving cyber threats. The Council will be a collegial body, without the organization of a legal entity, under the authority of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization. It will consist of representatives of the ministries responsible for the implementation of government policies in critical industries.
