An information system “Medical registration of birth and death” (SI eCMND) is being developed in Moldova.

The creation of this system will ensure the digitalization of procedures for registering births and deaths in Moldova and create conditions for replacing the issuance of these documents on paper. The process of collecting, checking, analyzing and interpreting data will be streamlined, inter-institutional data exchange will be ensured, and it will be possible to generate detailed statistical reports. All this will improve the process of monitoring demographic trends; they will be carried out in accordance with European standards. The information system is being developed by the Ministry of Health with the support of the Electronic Governance Agency within the framework of the project “Modernization of public services in Moldova”, financed by the World Bank ($331.5 thousand). To support the information system in 2025-2028 about 600 thousand lei will be required annually.
