
The Defense Ministry has signed a contract for the purchase of a new radar that will improve the monitoring of Moldova's airspace.
According to the Defense Ministry, the purchase of a new airspace surveillance system for the National Army will be carried out with EU financial support within the framework of the European Peace Facility. The contract on the purchase of the radar, which will be delivered to the National Army, was signed by Magnus-Valdemar Saar, Director General of the Estonian Centre for Defense Investments (ECDI), and Sergiu Cirimpei, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the National Army. Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii expressed gratitude to the EU partners, who constantly contribute to the attainment of the national goals of strengthening the defense capacity, noting that such projects will be continued for the benefit of the Moldovan citizens. At the same time, Moldovan Defense Ministry State Secretary Sergiu Plop held a meeting with the ECDI team in charge of the procurement procedure and the project's implementation. The sides discussed the assistance offered by the European Union through the European Peace Facility in different fields: mobility, logistics, communication, as well as air surveillance. The ECDI team of experts responsible for the procurement procedure and implementation of the project was in Moldova from April 2 to 4. They held meetings with specialists from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. // 05.04.2024 – InfoMarket
