Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov took the constitutional oath on Monday.

Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov took the constitutional oath on Monday.

The official ceremony took place in the presence of Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean. The head of state said that after receiving the positive decision of the European Union countries to start negotiations on Moldova's accession to the EU, "we are entering a decisive phase of the European integration process, and all eyes will be focused on what is going on at home". The President emphasized that Moldova has managed to build very good relations with the EU countries and to gain their trust, but now it is necessary to move forward decisively in order to adjust Moldova's laws, regulations, and standards to the European ones. "We have an ambitious plan, there is a lot of work to do at home, and it is necessary that the whole government, all central and local public authorities and other stakeholders in society unite around efforts to speed up the European integration process," the head of state said. She said that Cristina Gherasimov has the necessary experience to efficiently organize the processes in order to unite in this direction and to take quick steps, so that, in the near future, "we can reach the finish line and celebrate Moldova's accession to the EU". Maia Sandu expressed confidence that, thanks to common efforts, this ambitious goal will be achieved. Dorin Recean welcomed Cristina Gherasimov's joining the government team, stressing the importance of the goal of "building Europe at home". // 05.02.2024 – InfoMarket
