In Moldova, the interaction of citizens and businesses with government agencies will improve through the introduction of the remote identification service (eKYC).

This was reported by the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, noting that the government, on its initiative, approved the concept of a government service for remote personal identification (eKYC - Electronic Know Your Customer). It is planned that the introduction of eKYC will facilitate digital interaction between citizens, government agencies and the business environment. The service will be developed and administered by the Electronic Governance Agency and its main goal is to simplify the digital on-boarding process for various services, both public and private. The government-approved concept provides for: implementation and continuous development of the eKYC service; integration of the service with the EVOsign and identification service (establishing remote identification of applicants for public key certification); provision of services to legal entities of public and private law to provide their own services. This service will provide all citizens, including the diaspora, foreign investors and other relevant entities, with the necessary tools for online interaction with government agencies, economic agents, banks and public notaries. eKYC is part of the plan to digitize 100% of government services by 2030 as part of the Digital Transformation Strategy. The implementation of the eKYC service (creation, piloting and development) will begin in 2024 and will be carried out using funds provided in the budget for 2024-2025 of the World Bank Project Implementation Group (UIPAC), the estimated cost will be about 9.5 million lei. The annual costs of administering the corresponding service are estimated at approximately 1 million lei and will be covered from the annual budget of the Electronic Governance Agency.// 31.01.2024 — InfoMarket
