The customs service urges carriers of unaccompanied baggage to comply with the provisions of European law and not carry prohibited goods.
Such a message was published by the Customs Service of Moldova in the context of the indignation of road carriers, which were subjected to a thorough check by Romanian customs officers and a ban on the transportation of parcels at the checkpoint in Albita. According to information received from colleagues from Romania, control measures are organized to prevent the transport of goods prohibited by EU law. In this regard, the Customs Service recommended that carriers of unaccompanied baggage comply with the provisions of EU law: not to allow the transport of food products that are not allowed (dairy products, meat, eggs, etc.), to comply with the limit on the number of permitted products, and not to transport prohibited goods and cargo (weapons, drugs, explosives, etc.). It is emphasized that the identification of prohibited goods or other violations leads to an increase in the time of verification and the application of sanctions against carriers. The Customs Service recommends road carriers to familiarize themselves with the rules in force in the EU in advance: https://bit.ly/3ZQtBhI. The Customs Service also warned economic agents and individuals that from March 9 (18:00) to March 13 (until 12:00) the Romanian integrated information system of the Romanian customs department will be unavailable, and customs procedures will be carried out by alternative methods, in accordance with local legislation. It is worth noting that some media reported that Moldovan carriers staged a protest at the Romanian customs of Albita, claiming that they face difficulties in transporting parcels, they are forced to stand idle for 3 to 12 hours at customs control, and in case of even minor violations, they are returned back. // 09.03.2023 - InfoMarket.
