
Greece is ready for deepening relations with Moldova in different fields and will support our country in the process of reforms and European integration.
President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou made the statement at a joint briefing with her Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu, adding that Greece pays a lot of attention to the strengthening of relations with Moldova and wants to develop and strengthen them in every way. She also said Moldova will be able to get gas from Greece. According to her, her country is investing a lot in the development of energy infrastructure, which will further enhance its role as a hub of energy supply to Southern Europe, as well as a pillar to strengthen energy security and uninterrupted supply to a wide region, including Moldova. Katerina Sakellaropoulou said she had to interrupt her official visit to Moldova due to a tragic railway accident in her country. On Tuesday night, at least 32 people died and 85 were injured when a freight train collided with a passenger train carrying 350 people in Greece. The Moldovan leadership expressed its condolences to the people of Greece. At the beginning of the briefing, Moldovan President Maia Sandu once again conveyed her sincere condolences for the tragic incident that took place last night in Greece and expressed solidarity with the Greek people and the families of the victims of the tragic event. Afterwards, everyone observed a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the tragic train accident. Katerina Sakellaropoulou noted that she had to interrupt her visit and return home.
