
The Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Assembly session in Moldova will discuss the common mechanism of gas procurement by the EU and the Eastern Partnership.
Moldova will host the 10th ordinary session of the Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Assembly (Euronest PA) on February 19 - 21 with the participation of parliamentarians from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, as well as members of the European Parliament. According to the parliament's press service, the Euronest PA Commissions will hold their meetings on Sunday, February 19. At a meeting of the Commission for Political Affairs, Human Rights and Democracy a report on the promotion of governance in public institutions through political dialogue and institutional cooperation to improve efficiency and administrative capacity will be discussed. Parliamentarians will also discuss the fight against disinformation in the Eastern Partnership countries. The Commission on Economic Integration, Legal Convergence and European Union's Policy Convergence will consider a report on economic development and challenges in Eastern Partnership capitals in the post COVID-19 period. At the same time, it will discuss financing Ukraine's recovery and reconstruction needs, as well as the economic restart of the Eastern Partnership region. A report on the environmental energy transition in response to the current challenges to energy security in the Eastern Partnership in the context of the war in Ukraine will be put to a vote at the meeting of the Energy Security Commission. The same meeting will discuss responding to immediate needs in terms of interconnections and energy infrastructure in the Eastern Partnership area, as well as a common mechanism for the EU and Eastern Partnership gas purchases. Also on Sunday, the Commission on Social Affairs, Education, Culture and Civil Society will meet to consider a report on the compatibility of EU and Eastern Partnership vaccination programs. The Commission meetings will be followed by informal meetings and a meeting of the Euronest PA Permanent Bureau. The 10th ordinary session of the Euronest PA will take place on Monday, February 20. The event will be attended by the national leadership. Debates with national delegations and political groups will address topics related to the future of Eastern Partnership policies as a result of the war in Ukraine and the new context of regional security.
