
Moldova has extended until January 31, 2024 the deadline for companies from Transnistria to import goods on a preferential basis, without imposing import or export duties on them.
The corresponding decision was made by the Government of Moldova at a meeting on Wednesday, approving amendments to its previous resolution on the entry into force of the Law of June 9, 2017 on border control measures, customs control and on ensuring the tax regime within the framework of joint control at checkpoints across the Moldovan-Ukrainian state border. It is agreed that in the period until January 31, 2024, economic agents from the eastern regions of Moldova, registered with the Public Services Agency, import / export goods from the customs territory of the country for the purpose of export, re-export, import, transit without charging import or export duties, provided that imported goods remain in the territory not controlled by the constitutional bodies of Moldova. Economic policy measures and prohibitions are applied in accordance with the legislation of Moldova. The Ministry of Finance notes that measures are being taken to gradually bring the activities of economic agents of Transnistria into the legislative field of Moldova with their mandatory registration with the Public Services Agency. So far, 2,300 such companies have been registered and the dynamics is positive. In the future, measures to support companies from the Transnistrian region, including by not applying economic policy measures and prohibitions to them, will be promoted taking into account the unresolved Transnistrian conflict and the sensitivity of this issue.
