The deadline for the import of oil products to Moldova through the Transnistrian region has been extended for another year - until January 31, 2024.

The deadline for the import of oil products to Moldova through the Transnistrian region has been extended for another year - until January 31, 2024.

The government approved the relevant resolution at a meeting on Wednesday. In particular, the Cabinet of Ministers amended its previous Decree on certain aspects of the import of petroleum products through the eastern border, which extended for another year the deadline for the import of petroleum products through the Novosavitskaya-Cuciurgan checkpoint with the possibility of their customs clearance at the customs post "Bender 2". The extension of the term is necessary to solve the problem of registration and accounting of all importers from the eastern regions of Moldova in the Public Services Agency. The established procedures will be terminated if joint control at the Novosavitskaya-Cuciurgan state border crossing points is established before the expiration of the specified period. Recall that since August 2016, the Ukrainian authorities have suspended the supply of petroleum products to the Transnistrian region by rail through the checkpoints "Kolbasna-Slobodca" and "Novosavitskaya-Cuciurgan" on the Transnistrian section of the Moldovan-Ukrainian border. The movement of cargo with fuel was redirected through the checkpoint "Ocnita", and then the cargo was delivered to the railway stations "Ribnita" and "Bender 2". After discussions with the Ukrainian authorities and reaching agreements, as well as on the basis of requests from fuel importers, on November 9, 2016, the Cabinet of Ministers of Moldova allowed companies to import oil products again through the Transnistrian region, through the Bender-2 customs post, carrying out customs clearance at the Novosavitskaya- Cuciurgan”, until an effective mechanism of joint control is provided. This decision was made on a temporary basis until December 31, 2016, but subsequently this period was extended every six months, which partially solved the problem of importing oil products to the Transnistrian region. Taking into account the fact that during this period joint control at the said customs post was not carried out, and this time it was proposed to extend the period for the import of oil products through the Transnistrian region for another year - until January 31, 2024. // 25.01.2023 — InfoMarket.
