Moldova and Ukraine will deepen cooperation in the economy and energy and implement joint projects in the field of transport and infrastructure.

This was discussed during a meeting held on Tuesday in Kyiv by the Prime Ministers of the two countries Natalia Gavrilita and Denys Shmyhal. According to the press service of the Moldovan government, the main topics discussed at the meeting were: the deepening of Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation in the energy and economic spheres, the continuity of joint projects in the field of transport and infrastructure, the vision of both states for the successful implementation of the European agenda. During the discussions, Natalia Gavrilita expressed support for the Ukrainian people, including refugees in our country, and reaffirmed Moldova's support for the territorial integrity of Ukraine. “Every day we admire the strength and resilience of the Ukrainian people. We mourn every innocent life lost in this unjust war. We are in full solidarity with the Ukrainian people and will continue to provide the necessary assistance to more than 85,000 citizens of Ukraine who remain in Moldova,” said Natalia Gavrilita. The officials also talked about the energy crisis that has affected both Ukraine and Moldova. Ukraine's energy infrastructure has been damaged by Russian bombing, and quick solutions are needed to provide energy to the populations of both states. The heads of government also stressed the need to expand cross-border trade and continue joint projects in the field of transport communication. In this context, they spoke about the launch of the Basarabeasca-Berezino railway line and the Kyiv-Chisinau passenger train, which will contribute to trade and economic relations and the safe movement of citizens of the two countries. “We believe that joint infrastructure projects will contribute to the growth of bilateral trade and the export of our products to the EU markets. Thus, a sustainable mechanism will be created to ensure food security both in Moldova and Ukraine, and at the regional level,” said Natalia Gavrilita. During the meeting, the prime ministers of the two countries signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of higher education for a period of 5 years. The document provides for the annual awarding of scholarships for undergraduate, graduate and doctoral studies on the basis of reciprocity, the organization of trainings, seminars, internships for students and teachers from Moldova and Ukraine. The parties also agreed on cooperation in the field of higher education through the development of joint projects within the framework of the programs of the European Union, the Council of Europe, the UN, UNESCO and other international organizations. The meeting took place within the framework of the working visit of the Prime Minister of Moldova Natalia Gavilita to Kyiv. // 06.12.2022 — InfoMarket
