Chisinau proposed to Tiraspol five possible scenarios, options for resuming MGRES electricity supplies to the right bank of the Dniester

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Moldova Oleg Serebrian at a briefing after the meeting of political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol and the working group on energy, which took place at the OSCE office in Chisinau. At the talks of the group responsible for the energy sector, the Chisinau delegation was headed by State Secretary of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development of Moldova Constantin Borosan. Representatives of the leadership of the State Enterprise "Moldelectrica", JSC "Moldovagaz", NAER, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development also participated in the negotiations on the energy issue. Oleg Serebrian noted that Chisinau offered Tirspol five possible scenarios, different options for the production of more electricity at the Moldavskaya GRES and the resumption of electricity supplies for consumers on the right bank of the Dniester. According to him, Tiraspol was offered various options for analysis in terms of volumes and prices. "The most important element for us is the lowest possible price for electricity in order to protect our citizens and businesses from burdensome bills. In addition, it is important to ensure the stability of the electricity networks. In the context of the war in Ukraine, they are very vulnerable. The networks should not be subjected to strong repeated shocks, the degree of deterioration of the energy infrastructure is quite large," the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Moldova stressed. "We must analyze everything that was discussed on other aspects. Perhaps, additional negotiations will be needed in the near future. Still, I admit, we have restrained expectations," Oleg Serebrian said. He did not specify which scenarios Chisinau offered to Tiraspol, noting that such information is not disclosed until the completion of negotiations. The Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration of Moldova also stressed that during the talks held by the political representatives of Chisinau and Tiraspol in the presence of mediators and observers in the 5 + 2 format, the parties discussed a series of issues related to ensuring the freedom of movement of citizens, the import of medicines and other problems. According to him, it is planned to hold at least one more such meeting before the end of the year, since a number of previous agreements between the parties expire on December 31. As the representative of Tiraspol stated at the negotiations, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the unrecognized Transnistrian MR Vitaly Ignatyev, Transnistria puts forward the most constructive proposals in order to resolve the energy crisis in the region, including resuming the supply of electricity from the Moldavskaya GRES to right-bank Moldova. “You know that the electricity supplied by our company is the most cost-effective not only on a regional, but also on a pan-European scale. In order to receive electricity, Chisinau needs to conclude a contract with the Moldavian State District Power Plant," he stressed. // 02.12.2022 — InfoMarket
