Moldova is discussing with Azerbaijan the supply of cheaper gas, oil products, fertilizers, the launch of joint projects in the energy sector and the direct flight Chisinau-Baku.

This was discussed during the meeting, which Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita held with her Azerbaijani counterpart Ali Asadov. According to the press service of the Moldovan government, the sides discussed the progress achieved in the bilateral partnership and possibilities to intensify the Moldovan-Azerbaijani dialogue with a focus on priority areas. The parties highly appreciated the results achieved over the 30 years since the establishment of the Moldovan-Azerbaijani diplomatic relations, expressing openness to the development of cooperation in the energy, economic, agricultural and investment sectors. Natalia Gavrilita spoke about the existing economic potential between the two states, stressing that, despite the positive tendency registered lately in the bilateral trade, it does not fully reflect the cooperation opportunities between Moldova and Azerbaijan. In this context, Moldovan Prime Minister welcomed the organization of a meeting between business people from the two countries. In the context of discussions held at this meeting, a common plan of needs of the two countries, which can be mutually met, will be worked out. At the same time, the head of the Moldovan Cabinet stressed the importance of diversification of Moldovan products on the Azerbaijani market. "We have a huge potential for the development of economic and political relations between our countries. And since recently we have been helping each other, I am sure that we will continue on the same path of friendship and cooperation," Natalia Gavrilita added. For his part, Ali Asadov noted the openness to strengthening the Moldovan-Azerbaijani partnership and further strengthening the existing bilateral dialogue: "The two Prime Ministers, the two friendly countries will always have something to discuss and they will always find new areas for cooperation. We are glad that after a too long break the activity of intergovernmental commissions was resumed, and only thanks to your efforts. At the same time I would like to thank you for the support and assistance provided to Azerbaijani citizens from Ukraine since the beginning of the war," he said. Another topic on the discussion agenda was the energy crisis, the need to diversify the sources and routes of natural gas supplies has been highlighted. According to Natalia Gavrilita, Moldova is interested in accessible supplies of Azerbaijani gas, the launch of joint energy projects, as well as the import of oil products at competitive prices from Azerbaijan. The sides also discussed cooperation in the agriculture sector, the possibility for our country to buy fertilizers from Azerbaijan and to exchange experience in the wine-making sector, as the Azerbaijani side is interested in our country's rich experience in this sector. At the same time, the sides analyzed the possibility of launching a Chisinau-Baku direct flight. // 11.10.2022 – InfoMarket
