Representatives of G7 countries, EU, European and international financial institutions will raise funds for reforms in Moldova at the 2nd international donor conference in Bucharest.
Bogdan Aurescu, Foreign Minister of Romania, stated this in an interview with Digi24.ro, explaining how his country helps Moldova in the context of the fact that the Foreign Ministry will hold in the near future "an international conference to build a platform to support Moldova" in Bucharest. He reminded that the Moldova Support Platform is a joint initiative of Romania, Germany and France, which was launched to meet the current needs of Moldova, which has suffered from the war in neighboring Ukraine due to the worsening of many crises, a wave of refugees, increased costs, the negative economic effects of the breakdown of traditional ties, and the difficulties associated with inflation, to which the energy crisis was added. The accumulation of these crises has led to a difficult situation for management. "At the second donor conference to be held in Bucharest, the parties will focus already on the second level, at the first level at the conference in Berlin we collected almost 695 million euros to help reforms," Bogdan Aurescu said. According to him, at the donors' conference in Berlin five working groups were created. A new element that has appeared is the decision of the European Council to grant Moldova the candidate status. According to the European Commission, there is a set of criteria that must be met by Moldova. "This set of steps to be taken refers to the specific situation in Moldova: the fight against corruption, administrative reform, management of public finances. This conference in Bucharest will be attended by representatives of European states, representatives of G7 countries, European and international financial institutions. Together we will analyze what we need to do to make Moldova more sustainable. It is a useful structure, through which we direct the attention of the international community and help this reform process, which is the task of the Moldovan government," the Romanian foreign minister said. // 14.07.2022 - InfoMarket
