In Chisinau, an Agreement on Cooperation was signed between the Prosecutor General's Office of Moldova and the European Prosecutor's Office.

This document, after discussions held on Wednesday, was signed by the Acting Prosecutor General of Moldova, Dumitru Robu, and the Chief Prosecutor of the European Prosecutor's Office, Laura Codruța Kövesi. Under the agreement, the parties will establish close cooperation to protect the financial interests of the European Union and Moldova through investigation and prosecution. The purpose of the working agreement is to promote judicial cooperation in criminal matters and the exchange of information between the parties. The main areas governed by the agreement include: cooperation in obtaining evidence or extradition of wanted persons; deprivation of access to criminally obtained assets through seizure or freezing order; creation of joint investigation teams. The parties also agreed that the European Prosecutor's Office, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office of Moldova, can provide support in the performance of its functions by sharing best practices regarding the investigation and prosecution of financial crimes and corruption. During the meeting, Dumitru Robu and Laura Codruța Kövesi discussed the progress in the investigation of cases of corruption, including high-level corruption, and the prospects for cooperation between the Prosecutor General's Office of Moldova and the European Prosecutor's Office through the exchange of information and experience, cooperation in the investigation of cases falling within the competence of institutions. Dumitru Robu noted that the Prosecutor General's Office of Moldova currently prioritizes the investigation of cases of corruption, theft of state property, as well as the pursuit of criminal assets. At the same time, Moldovan prosecutors are still available for interaction during joint investigations with foreign colleagues.
