In Moldova, a state of emergency has been declared throughout the country for a period of 60 days, starting from February 24.
This decision was made by Parliament at a meeting on Thursday evening, approving the corresponding initiative of the government and the Commission for Emergency Situations in connection with the deteriorating security situation in the region and in order to ensure national security. 88 deputies voted for the introduction of the state of emergency. The document provides that during the state of emergency, the Commission for Emergency Situations of Moldova issues regulations that are mandatory for the heads of central and local public administration bodies, economic agents, state institutions, as well as citizens and other persons on the territory of the Republic of Moldova. According to the decree on the introduction of a state of emergency, during the state of emergency, a special regime is established for entry and exit from the country, the use of airspace; a special regime of movement is established throughout the country, including in terms of the movement and control of goods. The project also provides for the expulsion from the territory of the country of persons whose presence may affect the provision of public order and state security; establishment of a special mode of operation of economic entities and state institutions; prohibition of meetings, public demonstrations and other mass events; coordination of activities of mass media; management of migration flows, as well as other measures. The same resolution canceled the decision of the Parliament of January 20, 2022 to declare a state of emergency throughout the territory. As Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita noted, the state of emergency is introduced in Moldova for a period of 60 days, since the situation is uncertain and it is not clear how long it will take to stop hostilities in Ukraine, but already on the first day the flow of refugees from Ukraine to Moldova was very large. Some people use Moldova for transit to other countries, others want to stay in Moldova. In this regard, today, Thursday, February 24, the Emergency Commission will clarify the conditions for entering the country, allow entry with internal documents or expired passports, and also decide on the transfer of buildings to accommodate people who arrived from Ukraine. Premier Gavrilita stressed that the biggest risk for Moldova in the current situation is large migration flows, and the state of emergency will allow us to be flexible and quickly take measures to solve emerging problems. //24.02.2022 - InfoMarket.
