Moldova will return the ban and fines for the illegal sale of humanitarian aid.

Moldova will return the ban and fines for the illegal sale of humanitarian aid.

A legislative initiative has been registered in Parliament, which provides for the introduction of fines for the illegal sale of goods provided to Moldova in the form of humanitarian aid. According to the draft, for individuals the fine can range from 40 to 60 cu, for officials - from 75 to 100 cu. The explanatory note to the project notes that over the past 3 years, the volume of humanitarian aid provided to Moldova (medicine, food, clothing, machinery and equipment, school supplies, etc.) has increased annually. Thus, in 2019, Moldova received humanitarian assistance in the amount of 214.8 million lei, in 2020 - 410.8 million lei, in 2021 - against the backdrop of the crisis caused by the pandemic, the amount of assistance was even higher - 944.5 million lei. The authors of the project note that the assistance is of a social nature and is provided to state institutions and citizens free of charge. However, in the absence of control by government agencies, there is often a violation of the issuance of humanitarian aid and cases of illegal sale of goods provided in the form of humanitarian aid are revealed. The authors of the project propose to punish those responsible for violating the procedure for free distribution of aid. It is noted that earlier such punishment was provided for in the Code of Offenses, but it was abolished by legislative changes adopted in 2017. //22.02.2022 — InfoMarket.
