Romania will continue to provide comprehensive assistance to Moldova.

Romania will continue to provide comprehensive assistance to Moldova.

In the 2020 crisis year, it provided development assistance to Moldova totaling a record amount of 46.8 million euros. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca, during a joint meeting of the governments of the two countries in Chisinau. He noted the importance of the fact that many agreements, protocols and memorandums at the level of sectoral ministries will be signed following the meeting. “We are happy to see in Chisinau now the greatest openness that has ever existed towards Romania, and these favorable prerequisites allow us to form an intensive and ambitious bilateral agenda,” Romanian Prime Minister said. He noted that in less than three months, the parties have already signed some documents regarding the goals of the Roadmap for priority areas of cooperation between Romania and Moldova. Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca said that, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the development assistance tasks aimed at modernizing the consular services have been completed; the justice system of Moldova was provided with IT equipment, a training course was organized for diplomats and magistrates of Moldova. Obvious progress has also been made in the following areas: environment, water and forestry, regional cooperation, public works and governance, agriculture, finance, European funds, health and culture. Romanian Prime Minister also noted the importance of modernizing the Moldovan energy market, stressing that for transparent competition, the Romanian Commodity Exchange has already created BRM East Energy, which is ready to offer a trading platform for energy products, especially electricity and natural gas, in a competitive, transparent and non-discriminatory environment. “I think this is a good signal for both Moldova and Romania, for investors in this area, to allow the operation of this platform by offering the requested permissions, which is a very necessary additional tool,” stressed Nicolae-Ionel Ciuca. Concerning Moldova's European agenda, he assured that Romania would continue to be the strongest and most active supporter. // 11.02.2022 — InfoMarket
