The Moldovan government approved the Moldova-NATO Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) for 2022-2023.
The plan has been regularly updated since 2006 and is based on the constitutional principle of neutrality and the desire to modernize the security and defense system, the MFAEI said. In order to achieve the goals set, Moldova will cooperate with the European Union and other international organizations, pursuing the goal of supplementing the IPAP with the Moldova-EU Association Agreement and the National Development Strategy. It should be noted that IPAP sets itself the goals of cooperation in a number of areas of strategic importance: cooperation with European and Euro-Atlantic structures and institutions, democratic reforms, human rights, the rule of law, the fight against corruption, territorial integrity and relations with neighbors; security and defense sector reform, democratic control of the armed forces, counter-terrorism, cyber defense, sustainable economic development and energy security. The Individual Cooperation Plan between Moldova and NATO states that Chisinau plans to intensify negotiations and efforts in the “five plus two” format aimed at the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Transnistrian region and will seek the establishment of a multinational civilian mission there with an international mandate. The document also touches upon the participation of the Moldovan military in other international operations, including on the territory of Serbian Kosovo. In addition, according to the plan, Moldovan military personnel will begin to undergo annual training under the auspices of the UN and the OSCE to participate in peacekeeping missions. // 20.01.2022 - InfoMarket.
