The Cabinet of Ministers approved the revised Program for the distribution of funds from the 2021 Road Fund for National Public Roads with a total expenditure of 1 billion 510 million 059.8 thousand lei.

At the same time, initially in the 2021 state budget for the repair and maintenance of 5902 km of national public roads and their engineering structures, the Road Fund was allocated 1 billion 532 million 059.8 thousand lei (+1.4% to the initially planned amount). However, after analyzing the volume of executed works in relation to the planned ones, as well as evaluation of the works to be performed until the end of the current year, it became necessary to redistribute financial means by sections of expenses within the Program of distribution of funds from the 2021 Road Fund for National Public Roads. As a result, according to the Government Decision on amending the mentioned program, 910 million 748.8 thousand lei will be spent for the maintenance of roads in 2021. Of this amount, over 372.47 million lei will be directed for current maintenance of roads, which is by 20.8 million lei (5.9%) more than initially planned (351.67 million lei). Over 289.87 million lei was allocated for periodical road maintenance, and 100 million lei (5.8 million lei less) for winter road maintenance, 70 million lei for road safety works (road markings, metal barriers, replacement and repair of road signs, etc.) and 60 million lei for the administration of roads (including expenses for arbitration and court costs). At the same time, there has been used 15 million lei for maintenance and current repairs of artificial constructions (bridges, pipes, etc.) instead of the previously planned 30 million lei, and this twofold reduction was caused by various difficulties in project implementation. At the same time, this year, 491.311 million lei was allocated for the reconstruction and repair of national public roads and engineering structures, which is 22 million lei less than planned earlier (513.311 million lei). This reduction was caused by various difficulties in the implementation of projects (unfavorable climatic conditions in May-July 2021 (heavy rains), epidemiological situation in the country (Covid-19), transition to European standards, such as EN, etc.) and it was not possible to carry out all the planned works in full. At the same time, 40 million lei was spent for design works, road assessment and land acquisition, 60 million lei was spent for co-financing road rehabilitation projects in 2021, 8 million lei was spent for purchasing equipment for equipping the testing laboratory of the "State Road Administration" SE and measuring the traffic intensity on national roads. // 30.12.2021 – InfoMarket
