The new government plans to provide asynchronous connection of the electric power systems of Moldova and Romania and build underground gas storage facilities.

This is stated in the program of the new government, announced by the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita. Among the priorities in the field of energy there are: ensuring the security of energy supply by accelerating the implementation of the project for the construction of a 400 kV high-voltage transmission line Vulcanesti-Chisinau and a new type of substation, which will provide asynchronous connection between the electric power systems of Moldova and Romania, as well as the modernization of the existing substation in Chisinau. It is also planned to initiate a project for the construction of a 400 kV power transmission line Balti-Suceava. In addition, the new Cabinet plans to: improve the quality of district heating services (continuation of projects to improve the efficiency of the district heating system in Chisinau and Balti (SACET Chisinau and SACET Balti)); provide an attractive regulatory framework to create the necessary conditions for the development of competitive energy markets (with results in energy efficiency, energy efficiency in buildings, renewable energy and clean energy); connecting gas pipelines in the north and south of the country and launching projects for the construction of underground storage facilities to improve the safety of gas supply; attracting European funding for thermal insulation projects in multi-apartment residential buildings in order to reduce heat loss and maintenance costs paid by residents.// 04.08.2021 — InfoMarket
