The new Moldovan government intends to initiate major road infrastructure projects and continue negotiations with the EBRD and the EIB to connect the north (Otaci) and the south of the country (Giurgiulesti) using modern and high quality road networks.
This is stated in the program of the new government, announced by the candidate for the post of Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita. The document also notes the readiness of the Cabinet of Ministers to restore, in agreement with the Ukrainian authorities, the section of the Basarabeasca-Berezino railway, which provides a safe railway connection with Ukraine. Also, a separate priority will be rebuilding bridges across the country as part of the road rehabilitation program, de-politicizing allocations for road construction, especially under the local road rehabilitation program, and fully involving local authorities in the decision-making process. It is planned to increase transparency and ensure that all infrastructure projects are properly prepared for economic and social benefits; ensure strict control over work performance to ensure the quality and sustainability of infrastructure projects; increase the budget to ensure safe road infrastructure - restoration of signs and markings; lift the ban on the import of used auto parts; to intensify efforts to take the necessary measures to exclude national air carriers from the list of EU air carriers that are banned from operating in the EU; eliminate bureaucratic barriers to obtaining construction permits; harmonize technical regulations and national construction standards with European legislation and standards; improve energy efficiency in buildings and promote housing management reform. // 04.08.2021 — InfoMarket
