For the early recovery of the Moldovan economy, the country will attract funds to strengthen macroeconomic stability and support business, as well as investments in various sectors - Maia Sandu
The President of Moldova said this, presenting on Friday the vision and priorities of her foreign policy for the coming years during a meeting with the diplomatic corps, organized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration. She noted that Moldova's foreign policy should be predictable and consistent, citizen-oriented and contribute to multilateral solutions and the creation of a conflict-free, safe and peaceful regional environment. Maia Sandu said that in 2021-2022 the foreign policy work of the presidential administration will be carried out in five main areas: overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic and improving the situation in the field of public health; support for the recovery of the country's economy; fighting corruption and promoting the rule of law; support for regional security and a conflict-free environment; taking on an active role globally. Maia Sandu stressed that support for the country's economic recovery presupposes the attraction of the necessary funds to strengthen the country's macroeconomic stability and cover the budget deficit. In addition, it is about working with international partners and financial institutions to attract more grants and loans to the private sector to help small and medium-sized enterprises maintain or restart their business. The head of state noted that large and medium-sized European manufacturers are trying to move production chains in certain strategic sectors, and in this context, promoting Moldova as a potential destination for international manufacturers and investors will help the country to recover faster after the pandemic. “We must be active in identifying and attracting their investments to our country. It can also contribute to the strategic autonomy of the European Union in the economic field, ”she said. The President noted that overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic and improving the public health situation is planned to be achieved by meeting the country's needs for vaccines and attracting aid to the health sector. The fight against corruption and the promotion of the rule of law will be carried out through cooperation with international partners to recover foreign assets of corrupt civil servants, dignitaries and businessmen. Maia Sandu said that the state institutions of Moldova remain hostages of certain groups of interests, and the reform of legal institutions is the key to the process of de-oligarchization of the country. According to her, a strong and independent judiciary and strong state institutions will help Moldova to reveal its development potential and attract more foreign investments. According to the head of state, Moldova should play a more active role on a global scale and actively participate in the search for solutions to regional and global environmental, security and development problems. “We now have more openness from our external partners, but we have to work hard to capitalize on this and put it at the service of people. We cannot miss this opportunity, ”emphasized Maia Sandu. // 16.07.2021 — InfoMarket
