The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization presented these figures noting that, for comparison, in 2017, the trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $163.5 million. “These figures show that the economic partnership between Moldova and France is constantly developing and strengthening as our country moves forward on the path of European integration,” said Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor. According to her, the main goods exported to France are wires and cables, nuts, furniture, women's suits, dried fruits, and wine. In addition, Moldova exports iron and steel products, bottles, flasks, etc. Imports from France are mainly cars, perfumes and cosmetics, toiletries, medicines, tractors, insecticides, and food products. There are 213 companies with French capital registered in Moldova, with a total investment of about 172.5 million lei. According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, an important step in strengthening economic relations between the two countries was the signing of the Roadmap for Economic Cooperation between Moldova and France for 2024-2029 in Paris on March 7, 2024, during a working visit by President Maia Sandu. The document aims to bring Moldovan legislation into line with European Union standards, create new opportunities for the business environment, and strengthen the country's position in the European economic context. It also emphasizes the importance of boosting trade, attracting mutual investment, digitizing the public sector, and introducing electronic services.
