
Trade turnover between Moldova and the Czech Republic has grown almost fivefold over the past seven years, reaching $389.1 million, and the Czech Republic now ranks fifth among Moldova's main economic partners in the EU
The Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization presented this data, noting that the volume of bilateral trade between Moldova and the Czech Republic in 2024 reached $389.1 million, up 19.2% compared to 2023, and in 2024 the Czech Republic ranked 5th among our country's main economic partners in the European Union. At the same time, in 2017, trade between Moldova and the Czech Republic amounted to only $84.4 million, which is 4.6 times less than today. In particular, in 2024, Moldovan exports to the Czech Republic increased by 35.4% compared to 2023, amounting to $217.9 million against $160.9 million. At the same time, compared to 2017, it grew 7.7 times, as seven years ago it amounted to $28.3 million. Among the main goods exported by Moldova to the Czech Republic in 2024 were: wires and cables – $176.4 million (+38.7% compared to 2023), wine – $8.7 million, sunflower seeds – $7.6 million (+320.2%), chairs – $4.1 million (+5.5%), electrical appliances (sockets, switches, etc.) – $2.4 million (+14683%), candy, jelly, marmalade – $1.9 million (+66% compared to 2023). In turn, Moldova imports wires and cables, cars, trucks, pipes, batteries, auto parts, and medicines from the Czech Republic. According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization, in addition to trade, investment relations between our countries are gradually strengthening. Currently, there are 39 enterprises with Czech capital operating in Moldova, with a total investment of about 1.8 million lei.
