The Economic Press Club will hold a discussion on July 22 on the topic "Why Chinese trading platforms pose a threat to the Moldovan economy"
The focus of this session is the impact of online trade through duty-free parcels on the Moldovan economy. According to official data, in 2024 alone, Moldova received almost 10 million parcels with goods that residents of the country ordered from foreign online stores such as Temu, Joom, Aliexpress, etc. Losses to the state budget due to unpaid customs duties and VAT are estimated at more than 100 million lei. The discussions will be attended by journalists who are members of the club, owners or proprietors of retail chains (Trend, Azart, Terranova, Mango, Bomba, Smart, Maximum, Cleber) and shopping centers (Port Mall, Grand Hall, Sun City), representatives of business organizations (Amcham Moldova), as well as ministries and departments. The club meeting will be held on July 22 at the Jolly Alon Hotel, starting at 11:00.
