The Customs Service is exploring the possibility of expanding the BQS digital system to customs posts in Leuseni, Giurgiulesti, and Otaci
According to the press service of the agency, during the six months of piloting the BQS digital system, 3,600 trucks crossed the Moldovan state border with advance booking. These vehicles were pre-registered in the BQS (Border Queuing System), which is being piloted at the customs post in Costa. Among them were 1,413 trucks belonging to companies with AEO status, 1,279 trucks traveling without cargo, 736 with cargo, and 166 engaged in international transit. The Customs Servicve notes that these figures demonstrate the interest of carriers in modern solutions that reduce waiting times at the border. “The results obtained confirm that the digitization of customs processes brings real benefits to economic operators. BQS means time savings, predictability, and security for carriers, as well as a more organized flow of goods across the border,” said Customs Service Director Alexandru Iacub. The Customs Service is currently exploring the possibility of extending the system to the customs posts of Leuseni, Giurgiulesti-1, and Otaci to provide carriers with wider access to the benefits of BQS and improve the efficiency of border crossings on major transport corridors. The BQS system is available online, both from a desktop computer (https://bqs.customs.gov.md) and via a mobile app available on the App Store and Google Play. Carriers crossing the border with cargo must select the customs post, the desired date and time, fill in the transport information and customs declaration, and then confirm the booking. For trucks without cargo, the process is even faster: they must select the customs post, the desired date and time, fill in the transport information, and confirm the booking. It is worth noting that the Customs Service launched BQS at the Costesti customs post on January 30, 2025. The system is currently operating in pilot mode, and based on the results obtained, its use is planned to be gradually expanded to all customs posts. BQS is connected to the infrastructure of border customs posts and includes electronic equipment such as information monitors, automatic barriers, and license plate reading equipment for efficient traffic management. BQS was developed with the support of USAID in Moldova as part of the Moldova Institutional and Structural Reforms Activity (MISRA). // 08.08.2025 – InfoMarket.
