Moldova's free trade agreement with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) entered into full force on April 1
The Economic Development and Digitalization Ministry announced this, recalling that the EFTA includes Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. The entry into force of the agreement means that Moldovan producers can export their products to Norway, Iceland, Switzerland and Liechtenstein without paying customs duties or with significantly reduced duties, which is a huge chance for Moldovan entrepreneurs to strengthen their presence in some of the most prosperous markets in the world. In total, the matter concerns about 15 million potential consumers. Among the products from Moldova with great export potential to EFTA countries are: nuts, fruits, honey, oils, oilseeds, animal feed, wine, vegetables (onions, carrots, turnips, peas, and dry beans), clothing and footwear, especially value-added textiles, electrical conductors, glass containers and plastic materials for packaging and construction. All details on market access rules, customs procedures, customer identification and other useful information can be found in the Guidelines for Exporting to EFTA Countries, published at mded.gov.md. Moldova's Free Trade Agreement with EFTA was signed in June 2023 and entered into force gradually: from September 1, 2024 for Iceland, from November 1, 2024 for Norway, and from April 1, 2025 - for Switzerland and Liechtenstein. “Access to new markets is one of the ways to support entrepreneurs. We have proved that Moldova can successfully compete on European markets. We are convinced that the same success awaits us on the market of EFTA countries,” the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitalization said. // 01.04.2025 - InfoMarket
