The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, in particular, in March 2024, Moldova's trade deficit amounted to $458.6 million, which is $33.9 million (8%) more than the previous month's figure, and $22.4 million (5.1%) higher than in March of the previous year. Overall for 3 months in 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, Moldova's trade deficit with EU countries decreased by 7.7% - to $411.9 million, with CIS countries - decreased by 84.1% - to $22.2 million, and with other states - increased by 22.9% - to $798.2 million. According to the NBS, the largest deficit of Moldova's trade balance in January-March 2024 was in trade with Ukraine, amounting to $313.6 million (2.6-fold increase compared to the same period of 2023).
