
Moldova's trade deficit in January-February 2024 amounted to $773.7 million, down by 3.1% ($25m) compared to the same period of 2023.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, in particular, in February 2024 Moldova's trade balance deficit amounted to $424.7 mln, which is by $75.7 mln (21.7%) more than in the previous month, as well as by $28.2 mln (7.1%) more than in February of the previous year. Overall for 2 months in 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, Moldova's trade deficit with EU countries decreased by 13.6% - to $248.1 mln, with CIS countries - decreased by 89.8% - to $10.4 mln, and with other states - increased by 25.9% - to $515.2 mln. According to the NBS, the largest deficit of Moldova's trade balance in January-February 2024 was in trade with Ukraine, which amounted to $220.2 mln (up 2.8 times from the same period of 2023). At the same time, Moldova's trade deficit with China amounted to $152.1 million (+3.2%), with Turkey - $56.99 million (-32.9%), Germany - $49.8 million (+9%), France - $30.9 million (+21.5%), Romania - $29.1 million (1.9-fold growth), Italy - $28.7 million (+19.7%), Poland - $24.9 million (-9.1%), Hungary - $23.9 million (-12.8%), Spain - $17.5 million (up 3.8 times), Russia - $14.7 million (-82.2%). // 19.04.2024 - InfoMarket.
