Moldova has for the first time obtained the right to export poultry meat to the European Union.

The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) announced this, noting that, thanks to the efforts of the Moldovan government in recent years and as a result of effective cooperation between ANSA and the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (DG SANTE), poultry meat producers (chilled and frozen) from Moldova will be able to export their products to the largest market in the world. As ANSA emphasizes, over the last 2 years, the National Agency for Food Safety has successfully facilitated many audit missions by the European Commission. Within their framework, they evaluated the national system of sanitary and veterinary control at central and territorial level, the professionalism of the body of official inspectors, the capacity to manage avian flu outbreaks in the country, the capacity of the laboratory system for testing, as well as the degree of compliance with the requirements and standards of the European Union by economic agents that intend to export to the community market. All this took place in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry, which ensured harmonization of the national legal framework with EU legislation. As ANSA noted, the single European market represents a great opportunity for Moldovan producers, as it forces them to meet the strict EU standards and to work harder to improve the competitiveness of their products. As a result, Moldovan consumers, as well as European consumers, will get safe and quality Moldovan products. ANSA said that it has been actively working to support the country's efforts to expand the export of animal products to the EU. Thanks to these efforts, in March 2023, Moldova was included in EU regulations for the first time, being granted the right to export processed poultry meat and eggs for consumption (Category A). The National Agency for Food Safety said it will continue to encourage economic agents to show interest and apply to export Moldovan products to the EU. ANSA will provide all the necessary support to help producers comply with strict EU requirements and facilitate the access of products of animal origin to the European market. // 30.04.2024 - InfoMarket.
