
Moldova's trade deficit in January-September 2023 amounted to $3 billion 396.1 million, down by 1.8% (-$61.8 million) compared to the same period of 2022.
The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, in particular, in September 2023, the trade deficit of Moldova amounted to $354.6 million, which is $21.7 million (5.7%) less than the previous month, as well as $170.7 million (32.5%) lower than in September of the previous year. In general, in January-September 2023, relative to the same period in 2022, the trade deficit of Moldova with the EU countries increased by 3.8% - to $1 billion 183.2 million, with the CIS countries - decreased by 53.4% - to $459.9 million, and with other countries - increased by 31.8% - up to $1 billion 753 million. According to the NBS, the largest trade deficit in Moldova for 9 months in 2023 was in trade with China, amounting to $720.6 million (up 5.8% compared to the same period in 2022).
