The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, traditionally, the majority of goods were imported into the country by road transport - 78.9% of the total volume. Sea transport accounted for 8.1% of total imports, railway - 3.9%, air - 1.9%, self-propelled imports - 0.7%, postal items - 0.1%, and the share of fixed transport units (gas pipelines, electrical networks) – 6.4% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports of products from EU countries to Moldova in January-September 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, increased by 0.9% - to $3 billion 109.1 million, from the CIS countries - decreased by 31.2% - to $1 billion 180.4 million. Import of goods from other countries increased by 9.4% - up to $2 billion 121.4 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports increased from 45.75% to 48.5 %, the share of CIS countries decreased from 25.46% to 18.41%, and the share of other countries increased from 28.79% to 33.09%. The TOP countries, which accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports over 9 months in 2023 included: Romania (15.4% of total imports), Ukraine (11.8%), China (11.3%), Turkey (8.8%), Germany (7.1%), Italy (5.5%), Russia (4%), Poland (3.7%), India (2.7%), France (2.5%), Hungary (2.2%), Czech Republic (1.8 %), Bulgaria (1.7%), Greece (1.5%), USA and Spain (1.4 each), Japan (1.1%), Austria and Belarus (1 each), Slovakia, the Netherlands , Great Britain (0.9% each). Analysis of the evolution of imports by country in January-September 2023, compared to the same period in 2022, shows an increase in imports to Moldova from Ukraine (+14.7%), from Turkey (+18.3%), Greece (1.9 times), China (+5.6%), Kazakhstan (3.2 times), Italy (+7.2%), Japan (+38.2%), Germany (+4.4%) , Slovakia (+45.1%), France (+12.8%), Czech Republic (+15.6%), UAE (3.9 times), Poland (+5.3%), Vietnam (+33 .8%), Sweden (+37.9%), Spain (+11.3%), Ecuador (+52.5%), Egypt (2.4 times), Bulgaria (+5.8%), Azerbaijan (+56.4%), Georgia (3.5 times), Israel (+21.4%), North Macedonia (2.3 times), Austria (+6.3%), Saudi Arabia (in 1.8 times), Great Britain (+6.8%).
