Importers of electronic cigarettes in Moldova will have enough time to adapt to the requirement of mandatory excise marking.
This is stipulated by the relevant amendment to the Tax Code and the Law on Tobacco Control, adopted by the Parliament during the third and final reading of the draft law, so that the economic operators-importers of electronic cigarettes have enough time to adapt to the requirement of placing excise stamps directly on the packaging of cartridges and e-cigarette stickers, preparations intended for use in cartridges and e-cigarette stickers. Thus, it is stipulated that taxpayers who imported the aforementioned excisable goods shall make an inventory and declare them in the State Tax Service until September 1, 2022. Stocks imported before the publication of the law in Monitorul Oficial (the Official Journal of Moldova) may be sold without excise stamps within 180 days from the date of publication of the law. Earlier it was planned that economic operators who imported excisable goods before the law was passed, will be able to sell their stocks without excise tax marker until October 1, 2022. The purpose of the draft law is to exclude the risk of smuggling and illegal trade of these excisable goods in Moldova. // 29.07.2022 – InfoMarket
