Decline in cigarette imports leads to a decrease in revenues to the state budget - Customs Service.

The Customs Service stated a downward trend in cigarette imports over the past 2 years. So, if in the first half of 2020 the volume of cigarette imports exceeded 1.75 billion units, then in the next 2 years over the same period, import volumes more than halved: in 6 months of 2021, 897.6 million units were imported, for the same period in 2022 - 777.6 million units of cigarettes. The department analyzed the impact of reduced cigarette imports on tax revenues. Thus, tax revenues from the import of cigarettes for 6 months this year amounted to 982.3 million lei: 765.7 million lei - excise duty, 197.4 million lei - VAT, 18.3 million lei - customs duty and 0.8 million lei - fees for customs procedures. According to the CS, hypothetically, due to the reduction in cigarette imports, compared to the same period in 2020, tax deductions to the budget decreased by 151 million lei. // 28.07.2022 — InfoMarket
