
Moldovan commodity exports to Russia in the first quarter of 2022, compared to the same period of 2021, decreased by 13.8% - to $56.9 million.
The National Bureau of Statistics reported that, at the same time, the supply of Russian products to Moldova for 3 months in 2022, relative to the same period of the previous year, increased 2.3 times - up to $446.9 million. At the same time, the share of the Russian Federation in the total volume of Moldovan exports decreased over the specified period from 9.64% to 5.35%, and in imports it increased from 12.61% to 21.93%. According to the results of January-March 2022, Russia ranked 5th in the list of the largest partners of Moldova in terms of purchases of Moldovan products (after Romania, Turkey, Italy, Germany), but was the leader in terms of supplies of products to the Republic of Moldova. The negative trade balance of Moldova with the Russian Federation in January-March 2022 amounted to $390 million, up 3 times compared to the same period in 2021.
