The Moldovan Customs Service has launched an online trade facilitation tool (ITC-WCO Rules of Origin Facilitator).

The Moldovan Customs Service has launched an online trade facilitation tool (ITC-WCO Rules of Origin Facilitator).

The agency informs economic agents that this free online tool allows them to identify information related to trade agreements, customs duties applicable according to the final destination, rules of origin specific to each product, and information on certificates of origin. The online search system was launched by the World Customs Organization (WCO) in collaboration with the International Trade Center (ITC). Economic operators involved in international trade can use this tool to consult information on rules of origin, as they affect the ability of economic operators to participate in international markets, the price and competitiveness of their products, and influence companies' decisions on investments and the sourcing of raw materials. Rules of origin are used to determine the country of origin of goods. Depending on the origin of goods, preferential tariff treatment, consisting of exemption or reduction of customs duty, can be applied to their imports. Rules of origin for the application of preferential tariff treatment are laid down in protocols establishing rules of origin in accordance with bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements concluded between the countries. The online tool is free and is available at the following link: www.findrulesoforigin.org. // 29.03.2022 - InfoMarket
