As the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) informed, in particular, in December 2021, the trade deficit of Moldova amounted to $429 million, which is $91.4 million (27.1%) more than the previous month, as well as $80 million (22. 9%) higher than in December of the previous year. In general, in 2021, compared to 2020, the trade deficit of Moldova with the EU countries increased by 48.1% - up to $1 billion 229.7 million, with the CIS countries - increased by 53% - up to $1 billion 439.1 million, and with other states it increased by 15.8% - up to $1 billion 363.4 million. According to the NBS, the largest trade deficit of Moldova in 2021 was in trade with China: $824.1 million (+30, 1% compared to 2020).
