The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reported that, at the same time, traditionally, most goods were imported into the country by road - 83.8% of the total. Rail transport accounted for 4.4% of total imports, maritime transport 3.2%, air transport 2.5%, self-propelled imports 0.6%, mail 0.2%, and fixed transport installations (gas pipelines, power grids) - 5.3% of total imports. In particular, the volume of imports to Moldova of products from the EU countries in 2021, compared to 2020, increased by 27.5% - up to $3 billion 149.1 million, from the CIS countries - increased by 44.6% - up to $1 billion 905.3 million. Import of goods from other countries increased by 30.4% - up to $2 billion 122.2 million. The share of EU countries in the total volume of Moldovan imports decreased from 45.62% to 43.88%, the share of CIS countries - increased from 24.33% to 26.55%, while the share of other states decreased from 30.05% to 29.57%. The TOP countries that accounted for the largest volumes of Moldovan imports in 2021 included: Russia (14.7% of total imports), China (11.7%), Romania (11.6%), Ukraine (9.3%), Germany and Turkey (7.6% each), Italy (6.2%), Poland (3.6%), France (2.4%), Belarus (2%), Hungary (1, 7%), Czech Republic (1.6%), USA (1.5%), Spain and Austria (1.4% each), Bulgaria and the Netherlands (1.1% each), Japan and Great Britain (0.9 each) %), South Korea (0.8%).
